Our Impact
Assisting Refugee Families Since 2022
Following Russia’s February 24, 2022, invasion of Ukraine, millions of Ukrainians fled the war, creating Europe’s largest humanitarian crisis since WWII. Since March 2022, our organization has been dedicated to assisting Ukrainian refugee families in the U.S. and those remaining in Ukraine. In 2023, we expanded our mission to support displaced Israeli families.
The Ukrainian Refugee Resettlement Project (URRP) began when the Watstein family welcomed a family from Bucha, Ukraine. Inspired by their experience, volunteers quickly mobilized to create databases for hosts and refugees. By April 2022, thousands of Ukrainians arrived at the U.S. southern border, many seeking help in Florida.
By June 2022, URRP had 150 volunteers, including caseworkers, host families, and service providers. In 2024, 250 volunteers continue this work. URRP currently supports over 5,000 Refugees in 1400 Ukrainian families, with 85% in South Florida and 15% in other U.S. states.
On October 7, 2023, following the Hamas attacks on Israel, we expanded efforts to assist incoming Israeli refugees, ensuring their integration into our communities.
